[WEEK40] FMP: Prototype-Interactive wallpaper

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

Prototype 1: interactive wallpaper

After mapping, I made my very first prototype, and bring to the classroom, and try to test within the classmate.

The phone mode

The iPhone model here mainly presents the time change, the black means late at night. Yellow means dusk and dawn. the context you see would vary with time.

The hand-drawn map:

This map is designed based on the real map. So when you move over the map, you will get to know what park is the nearest so as the other shops for a different function. like in the post office, you could send and receive the E-mail. which linked apps the physical place.

Time in the design

After the prototype and the positive feedback from classmates, I decided to bring this time element to my design, which will be shown in two different dimensions.

The time within a day

Time will change from day to night because this is not much time elements on the phone, iPhone launched a "night mode" but just a transfer from white and dark

Seasons in a year. But my design could put time on more levels.

The time within a year

There are four seasons, the wallpaper would also change with the change of seasons, bring the time to your phone.

Interaction

In order to associate the interaction with nature, I am thinking about the foggy weather.

The gesture that people wipe off the fog in the window is similar to we swiping on the screen.

So perhaps, if you playing your phone too long, your phone would be blue, and you need to wipe it off, it may not directly cut you off through the phone use. But could gently remind you of your phone hours.

Feedback:

I tested with six people in the class when we were doing the presentation and got the teacher’s feedback, arranged as the following points:

1. Put the weather and seasons to the design and add a sense of reality.

2.The current design is not that practical. For the users who are all covered by icons of applications, there is no place to see the background. Moreover, people with a small screen would be harder to leverage this design.

3.If my design goes to change the current hobbies of people using their phones, maybe there would have trouble in understanding how to use it.
